Volunteering

All families will contribute time to the club for various duties that might otherwise fall on only a few members or cost the club money to perform. Each family is required to:

  • sign up (online system) for one duty (per skater) during the skating year;
  • communicate via email with the Volunteer Coordinator to confirm you can do the duty; and
  • perform the duty in a timely manner.

Any adult in the family can perform the volunteer duties. If a family does not perform their duty, their post-dated “volunteering” cheque ($100) will be cashed.

The Saanich Skating Club is run by a group of volunteers so all families must pitch in to help in some small way. We offer a warm, safe, fun environment for children of all ages and abilities. Many Hands make for little work!

When you register you will be given a choice of participating in various jobs of which most are very easy to do. The vast majority of them can be done at the arena while your child is skating. The Volunteer Co-Ordinator will assign jobs & keep track of when thay have been completed.

Here is a link to the volunteer sign-up sheet.

 PLEASE NOTE:  To ensure that everybody participates, each family, upon registration,  is required to submit a $100 cheque – POST DATED March 31 of the current skating season. At the conclusion of the winter season, if the volunteer committment has been fulfilled, the cheque will be destroyed.
